You will have no defense and you will not be able to say you didn't know it was bad since the account is closed. Even if you can't pay rent, it takes a while to get evicted so you will have a little time to figure something else out. you will go to jail. Because writing bad checks on closed accounts or sometimes having NSF (Non Sufficient Funds) is considered a felony, that's where you'll be heading is straight to prison. Pay the late fee with the landlord and stay out of prison. Not only will you have prison time and probation/parole, you'll end up having to pay back restitution for that check that could up end being thousands more dollars. So think about it. Doing prison time and payng money you don't have for years and years to restitution, court fines ect..... or making arrangements with the landlord and keeping your freedom and not having a criminal record. The Company you issued it to, will demand their goods back from you and if you fail to comply then you will be charged with, will almost certainly get you on the charge of "gaining goods under false pretences" This is trouble big time. don't be tempted.
