Renting a Property Purchased via Right To Buy?
Is this ok to do? There is nothing in the agreement that mentions it or the purchase contract we signed – only details state about paying back discount should we sell the property within five years which we aren’t going to do.
When buying the property we asked the solicitor at the time of our future intentions to rent it out and they advised us that we only needed to provide the council with references of any possible future tennant – is this definitely correct?
Thank you in advance.
i am not sure if the legal requirement has changed, but we purchased our flat on the right to buy scheme and my upstairs neighbour then purchased there flat and after 1 year rented it out i am almost certain that you must get the local authority consent as my ex neighbours had to do this.we also eventually sold our flat and again the purchaser had to get the local authority permission to rent it out, techincally your are only a lease holder and the local authority do have a say,is there not any facts given in the right to buy information pack that you should have been given
probably is right , and i would get references . you need someone who can be trusted in your property
