Please Help! Getting a deposit back from a property investment in florida?

Posted under Sell and Rent Back by admin on Sunday 11 July 2010 at 9:37 am

In September last year, my partner and I went to Florida to look at property to invest in. We went with a international realty company who set us up to meet developers, mortgage advisor and a management company. The plan was to rent it out as soon as possible and in later years to sell.

We found the perfect property and signed a contract with the developer who was aware we were applying for a mortgage in america and said if there was any problem with this we could pull out.

We came up with the 30% (as this was needed to apply for the mortgage) straight away. But as the months went on, we were applying to so may different mortgage schemes with no luck. It was dragging out to long and we were already paying a mortgage on the 30% we decided we had to pull out and get our money back. We have contacted the realty company and the developers but they are very unhelpful, it seems we can only contact them through emails and they haven’t given us any idea if and when we will get our money back. it has been dragging out for such a long time we are begiining to worry.

So if anyone has any advice on what we should do? We are beside ourselves with worry as the developer has been no help what so ever.

Thank you for reading.

Discount children's designer clothes?

Posted under Sell and Rent Back by admin on Friday 9 July 2010 at 3:02 pm

Hi,

My partner has a 4 year old daughter with his ex. His ex only allows their daughter to wear expensive or designer clothes ie clothes from House of Frasier, Baby Gap, Pumpkin Patch, DNKY, etc.

My partner and I can’t afford and don’t believe in paying £50 for a t-shirt for a child that is going to grow out of it in a few months – of course we want her to have nice comfortable clothes but we don’t believe that that means paying £50-100 for a designer t-shirt or trousers.

We have bought loads of clothes for her from H&M, Next, Debenhams, Mothercare etc but she never wears them and we just found out that as soon as the mother saw the label she just binned them.

My partner has just finished uni and is having trouble fining a job with his degree and can only get work for 6 week periods and then nothing for weeks so he doesn’t have a steady income coming in. Even with this he still pays her maintenance directly to her even though the CSA told him he doesn’t have to pay maintenance and refuses to take money from him. When he does get money in he always buys her something, nothing big but something small like some new outdoor toys, or a game etc but nothing extravagant but this is not good enough – the mother expects something around £100 spent on her nearly every week.

I have a full time job at the minute but am being made redundant at the of July and going back to finish my degree in September, but after I pay rent for myself and my partner and household bills I only have £200 left to live for the rest of the month so I can’t afford to give my partner a lot of money to spend on designer clothes.

We have tried to explain that she doesnt need to be in designer clothes all of the time (especially as she is not allowed to get them dirty as they just get binned straight away – not washed just binned as she decides that they are no good anymore) and that we can’t afford to dress her in them but that clothes from Next, H&M, etc are just as good.

Does anyone know of any websites that sell designer clothes but at a discount price?

Thanks for any help!

Jobseekers allowance and shares?

Posted under Sell and Rent Back by admin on Wednesday 7 July 2010 at 9:36 am

Am I able to claim jobseekers allowance if I own shares? I have been out of work 4 years borrowing money from the parents but am worried about claiming incase they ask me to sell my shares and house. I have moved back with the parents and rent out my house, is this viewed as an income? After mortgage I make £40 a month profit which obviously I cant live off.

Thanks

Finances- what would you do?

Posted under Sell and Rent Back by admin on Monday 5 July 2010 at 9:43 am

I have accepted a new job abroad and leave in October, so will need to rent out my flat (I don’t want to sell as I just signed a new 4 year fixed rate mortgage and would have to pay a large penalty fee).

Before I had the job offer, I was planning on paying off a large loan I have with my savings this month- this would be the first time that I would be debt free (aside from my mortgage) in 12 years!

If I use all my savings to pay off my loan, then I have no back up in case the new job doesn’t work out, or I can’t rent out my flat and I need to cover the mortgage payments…

So do I pay off the loan and get rid of all the nasty interest fees, but risk not having a contingency fund…

or do I play it safe and keep hold of my savings in case anything goes wrong?

I really don’t know what to do! I’ve been waiting for years to be debt free… but if things go wrong I could be right back where I started…

Help!
PS- I am in the UK so I do not need to let the mortgage company know I am renting the place out

I have left my partner now and why do I feel guilty, did I do the right thing?

Posted under Sell and Rent Back by admin on Saturday 3 July 2010 at 2:33 pm

Its been since Friday last week that I left my partner of 1 year. I think everyone remembers the reasons why I did ie he kept from me for a year his 6 credit cards, the remortgage loan from years back, the payments he hasnt been paying re the house bills, mortgage, car and he wants to sell that house now and move into my flat or rent but what I am worried about is credit ratings for me.

He sends me emails daily trying his hardest to get to some kind of ultimatum but clearly I cant get my head around this, he has lied from the start and admitted to not telling why because I would have run from the beginning. Whats more confusing is he says he was honest from the start with me, but then back tracks and says he wishes he told me sooner because none of this would happened but then if he told me at start he wouldnt know how I would react, Personally I might have been able to deal with it better than this but I have lost trust. Alongside looking at a dating site and emailing someone 3 months on and suggesting drugs to someone over email makes me think twice about him anyway.
My parents agree they couldnt live with someone who lied at the beginning and took a year and the rest to match re his finances and other personal affairs. He writes to me today with this, see what you think:

so are you completely switching me off now … is there not a slim chance that we could find a way of sorting all this out hun … i cant help feeling the way i do about you … life is never easy .. im still going to sort out my issues ( and they are my issues ) .. this does not effect the way i feel or want you or even what i wanted for you and i only ever ever wanted for us to be happy and content .. you probably feel better already having moved out …. but surely you still have some feelings for me .. i know you can be cold and stubborn etc ….

you are lucky in that you have your family close by and somebody to talk to .. i dont have that facility and have to sort things out myself in my own head … yes i have made some mistakes.. i should have got out of my house last feburuary or at least rented out the rooms to help get through the tough months that have been and gone …. this would have helped considerably ….. i opened up to you completely and you ran away … i was being totally honest with you babe … that shows you how much you meant to m e.. ( yes i should have done it sooner i know and im suffering fo rthat now ) i wanted to then show you that i will get it all sorted but wanated you by my side.. now if it meant you moving out yet we could still be togethere i could have taken that on the chin as i dont blame you .. it gives you the space you need and also enables me to sort everything out.. but at the sametime we can still be a couple…. we got on great .. you know that …. we did do loads of things over the last few months… there is no need to throw it all away just like that … we can still have that dream of yours… xxxx the full works …. xxxx

That full works was by the way me wanting to move into another hosue, but paying off his debts would be something we would have to do and after him missing mortgage payments and car payments I could never trust him with money, and would hate to think I had to mother him months of being with him alongside taking money off him to make sure all this was paid off. He has had a debt advisor in to consolidate all his money into one so its easier, but I cant believe how much he owes over the years, he is 41….!?!?

I know what I am doing is right, but cant seem to budge from this negative feeling I have for him and just want to move on from him…

any suggestions
many thanks

Two weeks ago my partner put me out of his house saying that he wanted his life back. Is there any hope for us?

We fell in love almost at first sight and although we are both older – he is 53 and I am 50, our short relationship has had a few dramas already. We are both fairly opinionated strong personalities. We have had several arguments that have ended in long silences until we cool down and make up. Alcohol has played a pert in most as I tend to become emotional after a few glasses of wine. He hates that! Otherwise, we are a loving happy couple. We spent 24 hours a day in each others company and I think it was a bad idea to move in with him so quickly. I rented out my flat and now have to rent somewhere myself. I sold my car as he had two to choose from. I know how deeply we love each other but |I wonder if there is a chance for our relationship to work. He always says it’s his way or the highway!
